Automotive sound absorption refers to the process of reducing the amount of unwanted noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) that enters the passenger compartment of a vehicle. This can be achieved through the use of various materials and design techniques.

One common material used for automotive sound absorption is foam. This material can be applied to various areas of the vehicle, such as doors, floor pans, and roof linings, to reduce the transmission of road and engine noise into the cabin. Another popular material is fiberglass insulation, which is often used to line the engine bay and wheel wells to reduce engine noise.

In addition to materials, sound-deadening techniques, such as adding mass to panels, strategically placed seals and gaskets, and the use of damping sprays and undercoating, can also be used to absorb sound in a vehicle.

The overall goal of automotive sound absorption is to create a more comfortable and enjoyable driving experience by reducing unwanted noise levels inside the vehicle.
